UNITBV launches the InThrace project for community development through intangible heritage

Transilvania University of Brașov launches the European project InThrace: Civil Engagement, Integration, and Better Management of National Intangible Heritage - EU Context, Perspectives, and Active Citizenship, funded by the Erasmus+ KA220-HED program (project no. 2023-1-RO01-KA220-HED-000156121).

The project will run from December 31, 2023, to June 29, 2026.

The objectives of the InThrace project

- Developing academic skills for the conservation, interpretation, integration, and sustainable management of intangible cultural heritage, especially in urban and suburban environments.

- Stimulating civic engagement and raising awareness of national and European identity, as well as promoting common EU values and active citizenship.

- Involving local communities so that intangible heritage becomes an active part of urban and social life.

Partners

The project brings together partners from six European countries:

- Transilvania University of Brașov (coordinator)

- University of Warsaw, Poland

- University of West Attica, Greece

- University of Zagreb, Croatia

- University of Azores, Portugal

- Pax Rhodopica Foundation, Bulgaria

UNITBV's contribution

Transylvania University will contribute by:

- Research on intangible heritage, especially in urban and suburban areas.

- Designing and organizing training materials, workshops, and training activities for academics, students, and interested experts.

- Disseminating results nationally and Europeanly through publications, presentations, and other communication channels.

Expected impact

- Raising awareness of common European values and strengthening cultural identity.

- Improving the quality of life in local communities by integrating intangible heritage into urban and cultural planning.

- Training university specialists and practitioners capable of managing intangible heritage in a sustainable manner.
