UNITBV participates in the European ReligiTour project to promote religious tourism

Transilvania University of Brasov (UNITBV) has joined a European consortium to develop religious tourism through the ReligiTour project, funded by the Erasmus+ program, KA220-HED 2023-1-PL01-KA220-HED-000156074, which runs from 2023-2026. The project, entitled "Enhancement of the competences and possibilities for religious tourism development and for better integration and management of religious sites in the urban environment", aims to capitalize on the cultural and economic potential of religious sites.
ReligiTour has as main objectives:
- Promoting religious tourism: the project aims to identify and promote the most attractive religious sites in Europe, offering a quality tourist experience.
- Integrating religious sites into the urban environment: ReligiTour aims to integrate religious sites into urban planning and to valorize them as part of the cultural heritage.
- Enhancing skills: The project will provide training for students, researchers and professionals in the field of religious tourism and heritage management.
Coordinated by the University of Warsaw, ReligiTour brings together partners from seven European countries: Poland, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Italy, Italy, Bulgaria and Romania. UNITBV is a partner in this project, bringing its expertise in tourism and cultural heritage.
UNITBV will contribute to the project objectives by:
- Participation in research and training activities.
- Organizing events promoting religious tourism.
- Disseminating project results at national and international level.
Impact of the project
ReligiTour has the potential to have a significant impact on the development of religious tourism in Europe, by increasing the visibility of religious sites, improving the quality of the tourist experience and training specialists in this field. The project contributes to the promotion of European values, intercultural dialog and respect for religious diversity.
